Princess' Scribepost for October 12, 2009

My Red Question :

How much money is in the jar ?
There is $100 worth of coins in the jar.

My Purple Question :

If you share the $100 with 10 people, how much would everyone get ?
Each person would get $10. Because if you divide $100 by 10 it equals $10 (100/10=10)

Part 2:

How full is the jar using Canadian coin?

Ok well the jar was 3/4 full when it had American coins in it (1350 coins). So if we replace the American coins into Canadian coins (370), the jar will seem as if it has less coins in it because first of all American coins didn't have toonies or loonies. I estimate Canadian coins to fill around 1/4 of the jar. Well if you divide 1350 by 4 it equals 337, which is pretty close to 370. So that's why I think that it will fill aroung 1/4 of the jar.

How high are the stacks of coins ?

1 cent = 2mm
2mm x 50 = 100mm

5 cents = 3mm
3mm x 40 = 120mm

10 cents = 1mm
1mm x 50 = 50mm

25 cents = 2mm
2mm x 40 = 80mm

1 dollar = 3mm
3mm x 25 = 75mm

2 dollars = 3mm
3mm x 25 = 75mm
