Aldrine's ScribePost for Feb 17 2010
Hi guys today we had to do our foldables on section 5.1
All of this on the key idea section including the question 1 &2

Question 1: My answer was, She is write because all you need to draw is top, front and side. You dont need to find the other side of top, front and side because you know that their the same size.
Question 2: My answer on question 2 was for me its right because by looking at it you have a good view and there wont be a problem by drawing it like that. if you want to see the other side of the book just imagine that your looking at it right now because there the same size if you turn it the other way.
PLEASE COMMENT !!!!! THANK YOU!!!!

Aldrine's Scribepost for Febuary 1 2010
Today we checked our homeworks in the text book about Show you Know 1 there's 2 questions you have to do show you know 1 and after that you have to do it again but this time its 20% off, and heres the question.

You put this in your foldable secetion Combining Percents
•To calculate the increase in a number,You can add the combined percent amount to the original number.
12% of 100 = 0.12 ・~ 100 = 12
100 + 12 = 112
• Percents of percents can be used to determine amounts that result from
consecutive percent increases or decreases.

9. a) Calculate the areas of the three squares.
20cm= 400cm2
40cm= 1600cm2
50cm= 2500cm2
b) Is this triangle a right triangle? Explain.
No, because when you add 400+1600 the answer is 2000 its sopose to be 2500 to make the right triangle. 20 squared + 40 squared = 50 squared this is called phytagoream. If you add 400+1600 and the answer is 2500 you make a right triangle.

After he solved that problem Emmanuel took out his rate pistol and shot Riemer in the arm. Riemer got up and said " I WILL NEVER GIVE UP I WILL DESTROY THIS CITY AND THE WHOLE PLANET MWUAHAHAHAHAHH."
After that Riemer planted the bomb and Emmanuel Tutukihaku has to solve the next problem to stop the bomb from blowing up the whole city.
David can saw a log into 3 pieces in 7 minutes. If he continues sawing at a constant rate, how long will it take for him to saw a similiar log into 6 pieces ?

Emmanuel was sweating a lot and he stopped the bomb from exploding so Emmanuel was happy that he saved the city from exploding.
Aldrine came and he was solving the problem.....
ALDRINE ANG SOLVED THE PROBLEM !!!!!. so Aldrine and Emmanuel was so happy that they finished it, in the mean time Riemer was so mad that he lost so Riemer threw a BACON BOMB Riemer said "THE WHOLE PLANET WILL EXPLODE THIS BACON BOMB IS THE STRONGEST BOMB, EMMANUEL TUTUKIHAKU AND ALDRINE ANG YOU GUYS HAVE 1 MINUTE TO SAY YOUR PRAYERS MWUHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH." RATE - compares two quantities measured in different unit .
DIFFERENCE :
- The difference between a rate and a ratio is the unit .
QUESTION 10 : PAGE 60
10. Trevor rode his mountain bike 84 km in 3 hours. Jillian rode her mountain bike 70 km in 2.5 hours. Who is the faster cyclist ?. How do you know ?
Trevor: 84/3 = 28km/hour.
Jillian: 70/2.5 = 28 km/hour.
so you know that they were going the same speed.
Question 4: PAGE 60
4. Determine the unit rate in each situation.
a) An orca swims 110 km in 2 h.55/hour
b) A Canada goose flies 800 km in 12.5 h.19.3/hour
c) Cathy plants 45 daffodils in 30 min.1.5/mins.
PART 2:
1) What would the recipe look if you had to serve 10 people ?
Show your calculations.
Ground beef - 0.5 x 2.5 = 1.25 lb
Medium Onion diced - 1 x 2.5 = 2.5
Stalked celery finely diced - 1 x 2.5 = 2.5
Clove garlic minced - 1 x 2.5 = 2.5
Canned tomatos chopped - 14 oz x 2.5 = 35
Canned tomato paste - 0.5 x 2.5 = 1.25
Parsley - 1 x 2.5 = 2.5 tsp
Basil - 1.5 x 2.5 = 3.75 tsp
Oregano - 1 x 2.5 = 2.5 tsp
Sugar - 1 x 2.5 = 2.5
tsp Worcestershire Sauce - o.5 x 2.5 = 1.25 tsp
Seasoning Salt - o.5 x 2.5 = 1.25 tsp
Bay leaf - 1 x 2.5 = 2.5
All I did was multiply all the original numbers by 2.5 to get the answer !.
1) What would the recipe look if you had to serve 1 person ? Show your calculations.
Ground beef - 1.25 ÷ 10 = 0.125 lb
Medium Onion diced - 2.5 ÷ 10 = 0.25
Stalked celery finely diced - 2.5 ÷ 10 = 0.25
Clove garlic minced - 2.5 ÷ 10 = 0.25
Canned tomatos chopped - 35 ÷ 10 = 3.5
Canned tomato paste - 1.25 ÷ 10 = 0.125
Parsley - 2.5 ÷ 10 = 0.25 tsp
Basil - 3.75 ÷ 10 = 0.375 tsp
Oregano - 2.5 ÷ 10 = 0.25 tsp
Sugar - 2.5 ÷ 10 = 0.25 tsp
Worcestershire Sauce - 1.25 ÷ 10 = 0.125 tsp
Seasoning Salt - 1.25 ÷ 10 = 0.125 tsp
Bay leaf - 2.5 ÷ 10 = 0.25

1:There are many kinds of different graphs such as the following ;
Bar Graphs- best for comparing things
Double Bar Graphs- best for comparing 2 things over time
Line Graphs- best for showing changes over time
Double Line- best for showing 2 data over time
Circle Graph- best for comparing things using percents
Picto Graph- best for comparing data using pictures
2: Messing with the Graph ;
There are many ways you can misrepresent the graph such as ;
-Using a broken axis so makes the information look different.
-Making one bar really thick, and the rest the same bar width.(By doing this it will grab the readers attension)
I could have colored it. Could of labeled my y-axis as "number of times rolled" instead of amount, I could of labeled my x-axis I could of put "The sums of the diced rolled". I could of wrote more sentences for my conclusion and I could of added a prediction to my"how i misrepresented my date."

Aldrine's Scribepost For October 5, 2009
My opinion is both answers are the same. 4/4 + 4/4=2 and 4÷4 + 4÷4 =2 is the same because, this sign "/" is the same as ÷. This is the real division sign ÷ , but some people use this "/" for fraction . they are the same but different symbols. If you are using fraction its better to use "/" sign because that sign is usually for fractions. ÷ this sign is usually only for dividing.
