Aldrine's Scribepost for Febuary 1 2010

MY SCRIBEPOST

Today we checked our homeworks in the text book about Show you Know 1 there's 2 questions you have to do show you know 1 and after that you have to do it again but this time its 20% off, and heres the question.

SHOW YOU KNOW

A backpack cost $35 dollar. Use the method of your choice to find the total cost of backpack, if the GST is 5 % and the PST is 6%. Use another method to check your work.

Ill do the same thing but this one is 20% discount.

You put this in your foldable secetion Combining Percents
Percents can be combined by adding to solve problems. 5% + 7% = 12%
To calculate the increase in a number,You can add the combined percent amount to the original number.
12% of 100
= 0.12 ・~ 100 =
12
100
+ 12 =
112
Percents of percents can be used to determine amounts that result from
consecutive percent increases or decreases.
PLEASE TELL ME IF I MADE A MISTAKE AND PLEASE COMMENT THANK YOU :)

Hey Aldrine,

Good job.For the first ratio table you did you should put that the 38.85 is the 111 percent so it wont mix up others cause they might think it's only 11 %. And for the second ratio you got your new 100 % = 28 . You figured out the steps But then you should add the 28 and 3.08 together. Because the tax is 11.

Im really sorry if my comment confuses you *.
