Emmanuel's Scribe for September 24

Question #4

Ravi recorded his spending for one month.

He displayed the data in a circle graph and
a pictograph.

a) How much more does Ravi spend on food than on movies? Which graph shows this more clearly? Explain.
Ravi spent ten dollars more on food than movies. The pictograph shows this information more clearly, because the pictograph shows the exact number of money he spent, unlike the circle graph that shows percent.

b) Ravi spends half of his money on food and clothing. Which graph shows this more clearly? Explain.
The circle graph shows this more clearly, because money and food covers half of the graph.

An advantage for using the pictograph, would be if you are dealing with it's designated number (10), or 5. And an advantage for using the circle graph, would be if you're trying to figure out what percent of Ravi's money does she use on a certain thing.
