Devin's pay it foward

Part 1

What does pay it foward mean to you?

I think pay it foward means that you cant think about yourself you should think about other people and there promblems.Example if you see somebody that is hurt you should help them or tell a teacher or parent.Another one is if your family or A loved one has a drinking promblem you could incourage them to get better and if you really want them to get better you could pay for there reabilitation. It also could mean after you do something good to that person he or she has to pay it foward.

Part 2

What was your act of kindness?

Ronny,Alex,Kenny and I did A act of kindness. We put left over haloween candy in A ziplock bag and we put a sticky on it that says pay it foward and we put it on people's mailboxes. We choose this activity because we wanted to pay it foward to the people so we put candy in people's mailboxes. We did this yesterday right after school.

Part 3

Our act of kindness went good we put at least 20 bags in all the mailboxes. We asked the people to pay it fowardby putting a stickyon the bag.I dont really know how the people reacted but they were probably happy that we tryed to pay it foward.

Part 4

The idea of pay it foward is making a difference by helping people with there promblems or giving them gifts or babysitting for free.I think our act of kindness made a difference because we give to the comunity and we asked them to pay it foward.

Emmanuel's Pay it Forward

What is "Pay it Forward"?
Pay it Forward to me is like a whole new different level of the world "help". Because paying it forward, is like helping people, but so much more faster! Instead of helping the person that helped you, you thank them, and help someone else. So like in the movie, if you help 2 people, those two people help 2 other people, so they help 4. Then those 4 people help two people and they help 8! So the help just builds up more and more and more! As people help each other, the world becomes more friendly, safer, and cleaner! So as you see, paying it forward, is a great way to help people in need, and to change the world!

What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?
For our acts of kindness, my friends Jeric, Argie, John, Aldrine, and helped our janitor Moses to clean up the school! When we helped Moses, we swept all around the school. We cleaned classrooms, hallways, change rooms, and the gym. We had lots of fun sweeping, because as a group, we made the best out of it by helping each other. A few days later, we went to a soup kitchen called "Immaculake Concepcion Tarish". In this soup kitchen, were many poor and homeless people. The manager Ruth, told us many interesting things about this soup kitchen. She told us that all the food, and other items like soap, tooth brushes, and tooth paste, are all donations! Also, there were many different girls from other schools that were working there as well. She also told us how this charity was started by volounteering teenagers! When we were at the soup kitchen, we helped make toast, and chili. The atmosphere in the building was much more different than I thought it would be. When we got there, we felt very scared, but when we got to meet all the volounteers, and workers, we felt more safe and welcomed!

How did your act of kindness go?
When we did these acts of kindness, we had a lot of fun, because I have never done those kind of things before. When I knew that I helped someone have a better life, or make their job easier, I felt like I have made a huge accomplishment. When we were helping our janitor Moses, we felt happy, and excited all the way through. But in the soup kitchen, when we got there, we felt scared, and nervous, because we didn't know what was going to happen, becauset his place was filled with many people with mental illness'. But when we got to know the staff, and the volounteers more better, we felt more welcomed and safe, and were able to enjoy our time at the soup kitchen much more! For Moses, we did not ask him to pay it forward, because when you think of it, he is helping to keep our school keep a nice clean image! Everyday, he stays at the school late to clean all the garbage kids don't take the time to to put it in it's proper place! Also for Ruth, the manager of the soup kitchen, we did not ask her to pay it forward as well, because every single day, she helps many different homeless, or poor people, by feeding them, and giving them supplies like tooth brushes, soaps, and tooth paste! So Moses and Ruth have been doing a great job of paying it forward for a very long time!

Why is the idea of Paying it Forward important?
Paying it forward is very important, because paying it forward is helping! With help, you can get a much more friendly and safe environment. Because if no one on earth helped each other, how do you think we would live? Well when in my opinion, we would probably be living a bad life! Because if no one helped each other, if someone is struggling, they would not be able to do something. Like if someone is living poorly, or on the streets, a way that we can help them is by donating clothes, food, or money! Same with countries in poverty! We always try to help them! And by helping them, we make their environment cleaner, and safer. I am hoping very much that my group and I's act of kindness has made a difference, because the whole point of this project was to try and make a difference. But in my opinion we did a great job, because doing this inspired me and maybe others, to volounteer more often, and help more people...just because!

Charis's Pay It Forward

Part 1

What does Pay it Forward mean to you ?

For me, paying it forward means helping 3 people and having them help 3 other people. Then it grows into a long chain. Paying it forward means alot to me. It means helping someone without asking for anything in return. If this goes on and on, then everyone in the world will have something to be thankful for and have something to remember. What the movie meant, was that even one person could make a difference.

Part 2

What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?

One act of kindness I did was I volunteered at Victoria Albert School with Vanessa and Ammorn. Another act of kindness I did was Darlene, Ammorn, Vanessa and I handed out candy canes and christmas cards to students, teachers and strangers.

Why did you choose this activity ?

I chose these activities because they put smiles on peoples faces.

Who did you help ?

We helped a teacher and her students. We also helped students and teachers from Sargent Park School, and strangers put smiles on their faces.

What did you do ?

We helped the teacher make flash cards for her students. We made at least 5 sets . By the end of the day my hands were bruised, but it felt good. We also handed out candy canes and christmas cards to people.

When did you do your act of kindness ?

We volunteered at Victoria Albert on November 27 when we had no school and we handed out candy canes and christmas cards on December 7 during lunch.

Part 3

How did your act of kindness go ?

My act of kindness went really well. The teacher thanked us for helping out and some of the students made us cards and brang us out for recess to play with them.

What Happened?

We arrived at Victoria Albert, then the principal asked us why we were there. We then told her about the pay it forward and she allowed us to help around one of the classes. Also, people surrounded us asking for candy canes.

How did you feel ?

I felt very good because I like volunteering at schools or for other things. I also felt kind of shy because I'm not the kind of person who would talk to random people, but if I know them, I'm okay with it.

How did the person or people react?

The teacher reacted by being surprised, then she told her students that we were paying it forward. The people at our school were surprised and happy because we randomly ran up to them and gave them candy canes and christmas cards.

Part 4

I think that the idea of pay it forward is important because its helps people help other people. So then, the tree will grow even bigger and the world will be a very nice place. I think my act of kindness will make a difference because the people we gave stuff to looked at us like they wanted to do something for us.

Kathleen's Pay it Forward

PART1 - What does Pay It Forward mean to you ?

Pay It Forward may mean different things to others. For me, it means that everything can change by just doing one thing. It helps us to make a difference in our life and to other people. It doesn't matter who you are , what you are , where you are, You can help a person by just doing small deeds or big deeds. They will appreciate whatever you do to make a difference to their lives and they might do the same thing in return. Share a smile to everyone , sad or not, It will help them through out their day. Just imagine all the smiles that you gave to everyone, doesn't that make you feel happier and better? :)

PART 2 - What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?

Me with Sierra and Michelle went to the volleyball provincials and handed out Christmas cards.

Why did you choose this activity?

Because it seemed like a fun activity and that it`s is enjoying to see the smile on people`s faces.

Who did you help?

We didn`t really help anyone but we made them smile by giving them candy canes and christmas cards.

What did you do?

We handed out Christmas cards that says `` Hope you enjoy the game and have a safe trip back home. `` There were candy canes inside the envelope too for treats.

When did you do your act of kindness?

We did our act of kindness at the volleyball provincials.

PART 3 - How did your act of kindness go

Our act of kindness went pretty good. People enjoyed it. Except when some people thought it was a joke and we were fooling around.

What happened?

People accepted the cards, some people rejected the them because they thought it was a joke and they thought that we were fooling around because we were recording it. We told them that it was about Paying it Forward and they smiled.

How did you feel?

I felt embarrased at first because we saw so much people and I was scared but then when we started handing the cards out and people accepted it, I felt so happy knowing that people appreciated our hard work just to make them smile.

How did the person or people react?

Most of the people were really happy and enjoyed the cards and treats. One of the person that we gave a card and candy cane even made the candy cane as his earing , he was smiling the whole time talking to us. This other girl who used to go to Sargent Park baked cookies and rice krispies for the team. It was really generous of her to do that.

Did you ask the person or people to Pay It Forward?

Yes , we asked them in person and it even said on the card.

How did they act to your request?

Smiles and thank you`s are what we got from them.

PART 4 - Why is the idea Pay It Forward important

Pay it Forward is important because it helps everyone to get together and make a difference. It can make a person smile. It feels good to know that someone out there are helping each other. Paying It Forward shouldn`t be ask to do , you should know already how to help others.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?

I think that our act of kindness made a difference. They can reflect on what we did during the time people needed a little cheer. We gave them smiles and they should do that to others too. It wasn`t that big of a thing but we still helped some people.

Harvey Pays it Forward

Part 1
What is "Pay it Forward"?
Pay it Forward is an ingenious idea, created by the author of the book, Catherine Ryan Hyde. Her book is now well known, even having its own movie and foundation (http://www.payitforwardmovement.org/ and http://www.payitforwardfoundation.org/) But the same idea is also described by Benjamin Franklin, in a letter to Benjamin Webb, Dated at April 22, 1784.

I do not pretend to give such a Sum; I only lend it to you. When you [...] meet with another honest Man in similar Distress, you must pay me by lending this Sum to him; enjoining him to discharge the Debt by a like operation, when he shall be able, and shall meet with another opportunity. I hope it may thus go thro' many hands, before it meets with a Knave that will stop its Progress. This is a trick of mine for doing a deal of good with a little money.
What does this mean? It means that we should all be doing this "Pay It Forward", but we're not. So now its our job to spread the word.

Part 2

What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?
We did 2 things. The first thing that we did is we donated some koats to the "Koats For Kids". Second, we donated more things to the Salvation Army. Third, we gave the teachers some candy canes to lift their spirits up.
look at me, I'm in the same pose. :)

Why did you choose this activity?
I couldn't donate a coat because all I had were sweaters. We chose Salvation Army because I wanted to get rid of other unnecessary things that I own. I wanted to donate them because instead of ending up in the trash, somebody else could use it. Cause you know what they say: "Another man's trash is another man's treasure" right?

Who did you help?
In my opinion no one really, because I feel that I didn't really accomplish anything.

What did you do?
I gathered all the old clothes I could find and gave them to salvation army.

When did you do you act of kindness?
The day before this is due. The reason that is because we couldn't figure out something really big and creative so we opted for a simple one in the end.

Part 3

How did your act of kindness go?
I didn't feel that "feeling". You know, like that special feeling that you feel only after you know you've done something good.

What Happened?
Well, we gave them what we could give them, and took pictures while it happened. I can't really say anymore.

How did you feel?
I didn't really feel that special feeling, as I've described earlier

How did the person or people react?
I don't really know, but I don't think they were expecting kids to be donating anything!

Did you ask the person or people to "Pay It Forward"?
No.

How did they react to your request?
They were nice about it, and accepted the donations we gave them.

If you did not ask the person to "Pay It Forward" how come?
I didn't really want to. And besides, actions speak louder than words don't they? So I think my actions are enough that they will pay it forward

Part 4

Why is the idea of "Pay it Forward" important?
Its important because I think this is what the world needs to change into a better place. It brings people together through random acts of kindness connects them, like a giant family tree.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?
I don't really think so. It felt like it was just something we needed to do, not an actual pay it forward thing where your act of kindness was a kodak moment, it only happens once. This wasn't.

Carla's Pay it Forward

Part 1
What is Pay it Forward?
To me Pay it Forward means to help people in different ways. It doesn't matter who you are or how you do it. Help the world and make it a better place. Like in the movie, one person made a difference. If he can do it then we can too. Do nice things to other people, maybe they will do the same thing to more people and the people could do the same thing to more and more. You could say good morning to someone. You could open the door for someone. There are a lot of possibilities.

Part 2
What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?
Well Althea and I went to the church and volunteered to mop the floor. We also made Christmas cards and put them in peoples mailboxes.

Why did you choose this activity?
We chose this because we want the environment to be clean and we want to help our church. We also want other people to smile and be happy. (:

Who did you help?
We helped the church and Althea's dad. Althea said he always mops the floor everyday.

What did you do?
I went to St. Edwards Church at 5:00. Althea was there waiting for me and everything was ready. So we started moping and Althea said I wasn't doing it right. I was like moping in different directions. She told me to mop up and down so it's faster. So then Althea told me she wanted to do another act of kindness. We made some Christmas cards and put candy on it. (: Then we put them in mailboxes near Sargent.

When did you do you act of kindness?
We started moping on December 1. We made cards before that, but we delivered them on December 2 and December 3.

Here's our proof that we did it.

*i do not own any of these songs*
Part 3
How did your act of kindness go?
It went well, and it was fun (:

What Happened?
Her dad thanked us. One of the neighbors was there looking out the window so we mailed it fast and ran away because I got scared.

How did you feel?
I felt really good inside. I like helping people and doing things for them.

How did the person or people react?
Althea's dad was thankful and the neighbors never saw us deliver them so I can't see their reaction.

Did you ask the person or people to "Pay It Forward"?
Yup. Althea did to her dad and It says on the cards

How did they react to your request?
Her dad said okay. Again I couldn't see the neighbors reaction.

Part 4
Why is the idea of "Pay it Forward" important?
It's important because some people are unfortunate in life. They don't have food, money or clothing. We could donate things to help them so everyone can be happy in the world.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?
I think we made a difference because I saw a lady watching us and she was talking about how hard we were working.
