Mr.Harbeck's / Mr.Bache's question why is 4/4 the same as 4÷4 ?
In my opinion I think they are both the same thing because 4 over 4 is also equal to one whole which equals 1, and 4÷4 is saying how many times can 4 go into 4 the answer is 1. So they are both equal to 1 so I think in my opinoin they are both the same thing.

Princess' Four 4s Post
Today in math class, Mr. Harbeck and Mr. Bache told us to explain how (4/4) + (4/4) = 2 is the same as (4÷4) + (4÷4) = 2 .
In my opinion, they mean the same thing. Because in fractions, 4/4 equals 1 (whole), the way you get that is, you divide the top number by the bottom number. But look 4÷4 also equals 1, because you are dividing the first number by the second number.
Ok so if 4/4 = 1, and you add it by the same thing (4/4=1) you would get 2.
Well if you you add 4÷4 = 1 by itself (4÷4=1) you would also get 2.
So it's just the same thing but with different signs .

Mr. Harbeck / Mr. Baches dilema about if ( 4÷4 ) + ( 4÷4) = 2 is the same as ( 4/4 ) + ( 4/4 ) = 2
Well in my opinion, I find them the same because 4/4 is one whole so if you put 2 4/4 it equals 2. So if I were to do 4÷4 it would equal 1. So if I put 2 4÷4 it would equal 2 because 4÷4 = 1 , then you add one more 4÷4 = 1 then you add them up which would equal 2.
So I believe that both answers are the same in my opinion.

Four 4's
Today's class Mr. Harbeck and Mr.Bache told us to answer,
"Why is 4/4+4/4=2 and 4÷4+4÷4=2 the same ?"
"Why is 4/4+4/4=2 and 4÷4+4÷4=2 the same ?"
4/4 + 4/4 =2 and 4÷4 + 4÷4=2 is the same because, this sign "/" is just another way of saying this sign "÷" . Like in some calulators they put the division sign as "/" instead of "÷". But the most common way to write the division symbol is "÷".
Another answer is that just because, 4/4 ( four over four ) is a fraction, it just means that, you're dividing it. So 4/4 in other words 1 whole. For division signs 4÷4= 1.
So they are both the same but it just has different symbols.

THE FOUR 4s
For homework we have to make a scribepost explaining:

The reason why 4 over 4 (fraction) is the same as 4 divided by 4 is because...

Turning 4/4 is actually 4 over 4!

But, what about the other divide sign?

The two "dots" over and under the line probably represent numbers, so it would look like that.
And that's why 4 over 4 is the same as 4 divided by 4.
The pictures "Take That!" and "Hold It!" is probably copyrighted by Capcom.

Hey guys,
My name is Shelby Mackey. I'm currently in my first year at the University of Regina taking secondary education. I'm a major in math and a minor in english. I'm taking a class called ECMP 355 and so I've been assigned to work with you in your class as a mentorship.
A little about myself, I'm 18 years old born and raised in Moose Jaw, SK. My family consists of me, my mom and dad, and my little brother who is in grade ten right now. I also have a chocolate labrador named Jake, and a cat named Bailey. I love sports, I've played all my life. My favourites are soccer and basketball, and I like playing tennis, football, badminton, and many others.
I have a blog, you can access it here. Check it out, it's for my ECMP class so there's not much there yet.
I look forward to working with you ad have fun in school:)!

Maths on the other side of the world

Hi Year 8s
It's Mr Montgomery here. I'm that maths teacher that commented in your blogs a few days back.
Mr Harbeck has allowed me (and my students) to post up on your blog. Mr Harbeck and I are thinking that his students (you) and my students can create a more real audience for your work by sharing blogs.
I've put some snapshots of my students of my students at work. We don't have ready access to computers in the class room yet. However we do try to do interesting stuff that sometimes means sitting down at desks, sometimes using the whiteboard space and sometimes working outside.
My students are on their spring break at the moment. They will come back to school on Tuesday 13th October. After that we'll try and be in regular touch with you.
Of course you know how busy school life can be. So no promises. But we will see what we can work out.
