Michelle's Surface Area Growing Post
After you draw the net, you do the formula for the square :
a = l x w
8cm2 =4 x 2
8cm2 =2 x 4
16cm2 =4 x 4
TSA= 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 16 + 16
= 64 cm2
formula for triangle :
a = b x h / 2
a = 7 x 4 / 2
a = 28 / 2
a = 14 mm2
a= l x w
21 mm2 = 3 x 7
24mm2 = 3 x 8
12mm2 = 3 x 4
TSA = 14 + 14+ 21 + 24 + 12
=85 mm2
To find the radius of the circle you use :
r = d /2
r = 8 / 2
r = 4 cm
To find the circumference of a circle you use :
c = 3.14 x d
c = 3.14 x 8
c = 25.12 cm
To find the area of a circle :
a = 3.14 x r x r
a = 3.14 x 4 x 4
a = 50. 24 cm2
To find the lateral area of the square :
L.A = l x w (circumference of the circle)
L.A = 9 x 25.12
L.A = 226.08 cm2
TSA = circle + circle + L.A
= 50. 24 + 50. 24 + 226.08
= 326.56cm 2
