Equivalent fractions are just equal fractions. So to make an equivalent fractions, what ever you do to one side, you just have to do to the other side.

MISTAKES

My first mistake is not showing my work.
My second mistake is not understanding the questions properly.
My third mistake is little studying.

QUESTIONS THAT WERE DIFFICULT FOR ME


In a group of 84 students surveyed, the ratio of student preference is 7 oatmeal eaters to 4 granola eaters to 3 toasted O eaters. Of the 84 students, how many prefer oatmeal and how many preferred granola?

Use the data in the table below to determine which sports teams have equivalent scored by to scored against ratios.

A normal deck of playing cards has 52 cards in four suits. (clubs, diamonds, hearts and spades.) of 13 cards each. Two of the suits are black, and two of the suits are red. The ratio of the red cards to the whole deck are:

- 3 things I now know about graphing :

A
(BAR) GRAPH needs to have the following :
  • a title
  • x and y axis
  • scale * intervals must be same amount going up *
  • labels for both axis
  • colours are optional .

- advantages for different graphs :

Bar Graphs - are best for comparing data.


Circle Graph
- are best for comparing categories when using percents.


Pictograph
- are best for comparing categories that can easily be counted using symbols.


Line Graph
- are best for showing changes of data over time.


Double Bar Graph
- are best for comparing two sets of data.



- misrepresenting the data :

  • Distorting a bar graph - making other bars looks different form the others makes you focus on that bar .
  • Colours - if you change a colour of a bar , it makes the other bars looks like it is not important.
  • Breaks - shorten the y-axis' appearance

Equivalent fractions are just equal fractions. So to make an equivalent fractions, whatever you do to one side, you just have to do to the other side.

For example, this picture shows the number of green Dots, to the number of total Dots. So to get an equivalent fraction, i just multiplied both the green and total by 2. You may also divide the two different numbers if you like.

In the future I should read the questions clearly so that I'll see that I need the answers to be in lowest terms.
Next time I should pay attention to my ratio table so that I won't make any mistakes on my answers.
Next time when I'm trying to find a percent i should double check my ratio table to see if its correct.

WRITING THE RATIO IN 4 DIFFERENT WAYS : ( fraction, percent, decimal ratio notation )

The ratio I chose is 1 : 2


FRACTION :

The way you write it in a fraction is that you just put the 1 on the numerator and the 2 on the denominator.


DECIMAL :

All you have to do is divide 1 to 2. So all the line means is to divide the numerator from the denominator. 1 / 2 = 0.5



PERCENTAGE :

To find the percentage you just need to use the decimal form. In this case, the decimal is 0.5. In other words that is 50 so there is your answer. 50 %

RATIO NOTATION :

All ratio notation means is the colon in the ratio. 1 : 2 . The colon between the 1 and 2 is ratio notation.


EQUIVILANT RATIOS :

I will choose the ratio 2 : 22 for this question.


Equivilant ratios for 2 : 22 :

- 1 : 11 ( ÷ 2 )
- 4 : 44 ( x 2 )
- 8 : 88 ( x 4 )

Thats how you simplify 2 : 22 in diffrent ways.

How to make equivalent ratios


Equivalent ratios are the same as fractions written sideways. It's written differently but means the same thing. For example, 2 : 4 is the same as 2 : 4. Whatever you do on one side, you do it on the other side.

How to make an equivalent Fraction :



Equivalent fraction is like another word for equal fractions. In my diagram here it shows that the original fraction the numerator is 3 and I multiplyed it by 2 to get 6, so whatever you do to the numerator you HAVE to do the same to the denomenator so I multiplyed the denomenator and I got 8 because the original was 4.

PROBLEMS !! :

2) What would the Orange to White to Black ratio be ?
3) Write the ratio for Orange to total then write it in lowest terms.
Some mistakes I got wrong on MY test were :
1) I forgot to write the answer in the lowest terms.
2) I didnt show my work.
3) I didnt get the write percentage.
Examples and my mistakes :
1) For question 3 I put D which was 2:4 which was wrong because I didnt do it in lowest terms, the answer was B 1:2.
2) For questions 17 and 18 I just wrote down the answer, I didnt show my work like how I got the answers.
3) For question 14 the way i got the percent was totally wrong the right way was alot more different.
How I can remember in Future Tests :
1) I can remember writing in the lowest terms by reasding the question more carefully.
2) I can remember showing my work by instead of doing my work on a scarp piece of paper I can just do it on my test paper.
3)For getting the percent I would use a ratio table to get the correct percent.
Problems :
1) In a student election Carol gets 40% of the votes. If there were 525 votes cast, how many votes did Carol get ?
2) 5 students were running for student council president. Of 100 students polled, 50 chose mike, 9 chose Patricia, 24 chose Brian, and the rest chose Karen. What is the ratio of votes for boys to girls in the student council election ? Express the raio in lowest terms.
